The artist mentioned spending many afternoons watching films as a child in post-war Berlin, and in this piece we can clearly see the influence that German Expressionist cinema had on his work. It is reminiscent of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu, however this sculpture was not modelled after images from the film. It can be surmised that this sculpture was created from the subconscious mind thirty five years later as is the case with many works by Jamie Howard.
